My old Ryobi 2HP router fell to pieces yesterday, literally, in the middle of routing out a string. It has done well but I knew it was coming to the end soon, I just thought it would quietly fade away not self destruct.
So I need a new big router, it needs to be able to rout strings in air dryed oak every day of the week.
Dust extraction is critical , the clear plastic bits you screw on never seem to last very long.

Heard some good reports lately of the Hitachi MV12 ( or is it 12 MV?), very capable and powerful.. Never used one myself but seems to compare well with the usual contenders by all accounts

I had a 625ek for a week ( new) and sold it. Didn't see the point of getting rid of my old Elu 177 for it, which was the original intention. ( I thought it was a logical step to upgrade/modernise ) Instead I took the 177 to bits and fettled it, and its just as good as anything on the market apart from no soft start. Saying that, the 625 seems a fine router but I would have thought it would have an electronic brake, such as the Makita 3612c I also have.....Dewalt is a better quality finish than the makita cosmetically and the fine adjuster on the fence is grim on the Mak,, but makita does have also a good reputation for power and longevity so the electronic brake gets the deal for me. Table wise I have a TritonTRAB&Q001, and for light stuff and trimming an Elu MOF96 and a Trend something or other.
( I listened to Maillee and started a collection !)

I'd decide between the 625 and the Hitachi - shades for the Hitachi I think . . . . both are great performers.
