I've been having problems with the plunge on my Trend T3 , it keeps slipping and today while rebating an oak door it did it again resulting in the rebate going further into the door stile and causing me loads of extra work to correct it . Soooooo i thought i'd fix the problem once and for all That'll learn it !!! ;D

It looks like you battered the cutter too; it wasn't its fault, the poor liddle innocent thing.

hehehh, i did the same thing with mine. Something flew off and nearly went through the garage window. I would have been p**ed if it did.
Can't believe your allowing a rebate cutter in that little piece of junk, mine was only trusted with a 1.6mm radius cutter

My Power Devil nearly went the same way, for the same fault, but I restrained myself. Given the "luck of the devil" the darn thing would probably have bounced and broken something else... Anyway, Jason, if no-one rushes over to your bin to purchase this lovely object, if I was you I'd pinch all the useful knobs there may be (no jokes, please, gentlemen). Bits of the PD live on in my workshop on various jigs and it's been more useful in that form than it ever was as a router. Cheers, Alf

If it's only the base that's damaged, I reckon someone will snap that up to use the body in a drill stand as an overhead router Cheers Paul

The T3 is crap anyway so better to vent your rage on that than anything else. In fact I have a sacrificial T3 that gets a battering when anything at all goes wrong, say a soft boiled egg comes out hardish with a partly set yolk, or the water is off for a day whilst a burst main is repaired, or perhaps I might stub my toe. Anything really and the T3 get a quick cuff or a boiling in salt water or turned slowly over a roasting spit...This is the raison d`etre for these overblown dremeldroids, at the 35 quid "in show cost" price that I paid for mine its far cheaper than a shrink or behaviour management therapist. The good thing about the T3 is that you can always re-use the 13amp plug.
But rather better experience with my new toys yesterday........Just fitted a 1/4" thick 11"X13" router insert plate ( £25:00 from Canada ) and mounted my spanking new Triron in it and what a joy to use.. and same job had some simple fluting to put on some panels for the same job so used my new Elu96E ( New as in never used and BNIB ) which is a treat to use and is my nominated light work hand held choice......The Makita 3612C gets the heavier stuff like kitchen worktops. and to date thats still a virgin machine.....But I have every confidence that it will perform admirably..............What civilised and well behaved routers these are.......Quite the opposite of the T3.
T3, or not T3?
hardly a question really is it?

While nthe T3 was a cheap router, and therefore could be expected to behave as one, its replacement, the T4 is more than double the price. I still haven't worked out what you get for the extra money.
