Does anyone have any ideas how I can make the split fence on my spindle moulder adjustable?
I have a small Luna spindle moulder and this has micro adjustable fences (forward and back) and I could really do with the same on my big moulder.
All I have on the big moulder is a big set screw that you loosen to let you move the fence side to side. I have tried shimming the fence but it isn't very stable and it takes ages to set up.

Not sure i understand , is it not a horse shoe type fence with two bolts tapped into the bed on elongated holes ?

Yes, it is the horseshoe type with two aluminium 'fences', one each side of the cutter.
I want to be able to , one, individually move the two plates, mainly to be able to adjust the outfeed fence, and two, give fine adustment to the whole fence.
To adjsut the fence by loosening the hold down bolts is quite crude and not very precise. Also, the outfeed fence often needs shimming out if the machining operation removes the whole face of the piece of timber.

Sounds like you need to buy a new fence. I thought they were all adjustable, on the outfeed side at least, and often both sides.
cheers Jcob PS though you could make do by applying a false fence on both sides, thicknessed to give the required difference

Any chance you could post a picture?
What, if any metalworking machinery do you have so we could suggest an appropriate solution.

Well....it's clear that...err...non of you realised that this was indeed a.......err...trick question.
The correct answer as .....umm....correctly guessed by my wife when she visited the workshop today was too....errr....swap the fences over on the two machines.
Damn.........Damn..............................
