not sure where to post this !
anyone know of a kit/system for one off name plate etching or engraving ?
like the name plates you get on trophies /plaques etc

They are usually produced on a pantograph engraving machine and I would have thought purchasing a machine for one off would be uneconomical. There are numerous suppliers in the Jewelery Quarter which would produce the brass label for you The other alternative would be free hand using something like a Dremel Engraver

a small pantograph is what I was thinking of. - I have a dremel.
I'm looking at the vaibility of making memorials and urns and adding the name plates to them - so not a one off.
my local trophy shop wants £20 for a 4" x 5" ish , engraved brass plate

why not check out locally if shoe repair types shops are closing, they often have this kind of kit, and i guess will dispose of it cheaply to allow you to start out. otherwise make jigs for the dremel out of plastic. paul
