This may seem like an obvious question, but should an adjustable width scoring blade (100mm) have exactly the same width as the main blade (315mm in this case) on a table/panel saw? My shims will allow slightly wider or narrower. Cheers, OJ

the scoring blade should be set slightly wider than the kerf of the main blade it depends on the material and how much you are prepared to accept scoring lines...and how much the main blade has been resharpened....dont forget that when its sharpened it loses kerf... you will get a certain amount of "flexing" on the main blade as it spins so they rarely cut exactly to the kerf shown..

thanks cuttingsolutions. I reckon that the main blade is fluttering +0.25 mm at the moment so will take that into account and run some test cuts today.

0.25 mm seems a lot to me on a 3.2 kerf blade thats 7% are the face plate on the machine and the flange completely clean? old trick shown to me many years ago....get a credit card (old one) and run the edge across either....you will be surprised how much dirt is on what you think is clean
