I tried this for a while, but after having to continually change from one to the other it become to much bother, so went back to dedicated mortiser and a dedicated drill press. Having said that My drill press is a Record DMS26 so it has a mortise attachment used with a corded drill I can have both size mortise cutters available 1/2 and 1/4 inch, when required. Otherwise drill with bobbin sander and dedicated mortiser.

I dont have a morticer, BUT, I think that my drill press ranks as one of the most important tools in the shop! 90 degree holes all the time, every time.
