I've been asked to quote for a shopfront/office window about 6m wide x 2.4m high. All I know is that it is split 8 windows, 4 above/ 4 below. Any special regs that I should be aware of, not done anything on this scale before.
Going to have a look tomorrow but nice to know any quirks/regs before I get there.
Cheers
Stu

Glass needs to be laminated or toughened but your glazier will know what to supply if you tell him its a shop front . If its a busy area you may need to inform the council and have to close of the area while fitting although i have never had to do that . If it an old shop front you are replacing make a note of the thicker structual timbers they have used .

In the brief conversation I had the client said she had "plans" as they were having other work done, so presumably the planning issue is covered but I will check. Hopefully there will be plenty of detail on there. I assumed that it would need toughened glass, again hope that its in the spec. I shall report back tomorrow with my findings! rgds Stu ps simuk ......owts...owts...owtsgmi..........

Ok, quick update. Went to have a look at the job. Pictures of the job below. Current structure suggests that there is a steel across the opening. None of the current frame is made from anything greater that ex 2" stock. Client wants "traditional" as per plans. Oh well better get some drawings together and work out some pennies. Any guesses? rgds Stu
