Is the quality of MR MDF high enough to allow it to be used to make raised door panels? Note for the mods - why do search terms have to be 4 or more characters long? It makes searching the forum for 'MR MDF' rather tricky

Dunno whether it's actually 'good enough', but I've seen plenty of ready made doors (and factory made-to-order doors) with MDF infill panels. In undercoat, they always look a bit... well... crap, to me. Sort of fluffy around the edges. I guess with enough coats of paint you wont see that and the advantage of zero movement and being able to completely seal the panels in place outweigh the fact that they obviously don't look like real wood.

actually, i think that mr is more likely to take paint more cleanly and also looks cleaner after moulding. paul

I've used it a few times. Tend to give the cut surface a coat of sanding sealer and a good sand before assembly.
You want TCT knives if raising with a spindle as it soon knocks the edge off HSS ones.
