You know the ones...when you take your hand off the end, it retracts into itself as if the Hounds of Hell are right behind it.
When it goes back with so much force that the end whips back as it overshoots.
Vicious - bit like the till drawer in Open All Hours.
So there I was, just measured a bit of 6 ft timber using my most aggressive tape measure.
Let the end go, really long piece of tape to retract, lots of momentum, lowered the hand holding the tape measure just in time for the end to whip back and catch me right on the end of me todger. Ooooh - that smarts, tears in my eyes and not from laughing. It was the missus who found it funny as she watched me howling and clutching myself.

That actually sounds like my DVD player, it is just like the till in Open all hours. push the button to open it and if you are not quick enough it retracts back in. I have become quite adept at tossing in the disk and hitting the centre mark. Got them jammed once or twice too. As for the tape measure I have whacked my fingers once or twice with mine.
