For all those that wish to go through a Woodwork UK maker vs maker challenge similar to the one that simuk and I are trying it has been suggested that we create a new thread. I will try to layout some "ground rules" (although there are no rules really) that will break the ice and hopefully get some other challenges going.
I should point out that this is for fun, there are no prizes other than the pride of winning and taking part. It is supposed to be a way of encouraging people to showcase their work in a light hearted way and getting the members of the forum to produce work for others to see. For me, it is also an excuse to produce something for the sheer fun/love of it.
If you wish to issue a challenge to the forum I suggest that you should include the following information:
The length of time for the challenge. We have decided on one month which is a relatively short amount of time but this might be changed depending on the project
The scope of the project. As simuk had a jewelery box in mind, we have decided on "a box". Other things that were discussed were a small table, and a frame but this can be decided mutually
Restrictions You might want to make the challenge more interesting by imposing limitations on the construction like the materials used, hand tools only or maybe a specific budget.
Criteria for judging. We have decided on a poll on the forum to which we can both post 5 photos and a small description of up to 200 words. The Polls results can be hidden until the voting is over, in our case one week. At which point the winner can be announced by one of the moderators and the champagne corks will fly, there will be virtual handshakes all round and everyone will be a better person. Hoorah. ;D
That's it really. If you want to issue a challenge, or just register interest then post below, try and keep this thread as a meeting point or to discuss the rules or ways of improving the idea. Once you have established a challenge it would be nice for the rest of the forum if you could start a fresh thread with the details.
So come on don't be shy its just a bit of fun!!
