Hi Does anyone know if a single phase motor can be wired to a 3 phase starter switch? I've got a single phase extractor I'd like to link to my 3 phase table saw so one switch starts both together. Is this possible?
Thanks Russ

If you have a neutral supply in your installation, then yes. Connect the extractor between any one of the TS switched phases and the neutral.

.
Two motors can be started from the same switchgear if there are auxiliary contacts on the starter of sufficient capacity to take the load of the second motor - generally though, these are just for pilot duty, small relay and the like.
There are technical reasons to avoid simultaneous motor starting if you possibly can. An excessive inrush current may upset the supply network in your installation and your neighbours.
So, I would recommend that you incorporate a timer relay on the input to the second motor with a delay - one or two seconds is sufficient.
As with all electrics, best to consult the experts and get the installation properly certified.
