Well done Paul, reward yourself with a large one.
This was my first attempt at the Y axis for the CNC build. Its1200x180x70mm (approx) and theres no deflection, which isn't bad for a few bits of MDF, although it is quite heavy. The carriage runs really smoothly along the rails but it was a bit fiddly to get it right.
This will be a bit of a "make it up as you go" sort of build based on what I have read over the last few months. I'm really just trying to prove to myself that it's possible for me to do. If it works I might get all posh and do it properly with more robust materials and components.

Cheers Paul, I've started with the "easy" bit i.e. chopping up wood and sticking it together. If I can get that bit right and moving in three axis, I'll move onto the electronics. Rahter cunningly I have got my mate interested in the project and his electronics degree might come in handy. Assuming all that works out I might come back to you on the software side of things. CNCPaul has already offered help and advice so hopefully I'll get there in the end. I'm not sure what that look of shock is for J, I'm going to assume that its because of my engineering brilliance rather that the thought of those tatty bits of MDF in the poorly lit photo ever becoming a CNC What's this talk of underpants? rgds Stu
