Well it handled the shavings from a 15mm x 30mm rebate on the spindle moulder I was expecting it to block up but it didnt . Not as good as my 100mm extraction but i think it would be perfect for router tables etc without having to spend loads on a big extractor . Total cost if you have the hoover ... £33 for the triton £12 for the bin £2 on tupperware £? on a bit of waste pipe and ply . Now i know how its done i think it could be knocked up in less than an hour .

Welcome back HC and i'm glad the operation went well . Keiths tip of extending the extraction around 75mm into the triton dust bucket seemed to do the trick . I left the red triton scoops in place and i think that just a tupperware bowl with out a funnel will do the trick . The one i have gets tighter the further it goes down the triton bucket so seals itself . On the bin i made a ply disc that sits on top of the rim and bent the bin handles out to clip over this and the bin lid . This stops the triton bucket getting sucked through the flexable plastic bin lid and also seals the bin when the binliner is in place . I dont think the size of the hole at the bottom of the triton bin really matters as the idea is the waste looses power ( for want of a better word ) and just drops out of the way . I also think that not sealing the lid of the plastic bin perfectly stops the bin inploding if you do get a blockage in the hose .

Looking at the pics i have posted it is clear that the bag does want to get sucked into the input , you can see marks of the bag on the ply lid . You can also see that the rim of the bag is clean so maybe there is no loss of suction there but i think there maybe somewhere as the thin bin i am using has stopped inploding when there is a blockage in the pipe . I want to pick up everything with this not just fine dust so nails , screw , pencils , in fact anything i have dropped on the floor gets sucked up and put straight into a bin bag . Regarding the fine dust , there is still very little in the trend hoover i am using . So little that i am sure it is the dust that fell off the filter when i put it back together .

The only way to stop the bag getting sucked in towards the top half would be to apply a vacuum to the outside of the bag equal and opposite to the vacuum inside it. That would no doubt implode the bin.
