Last weekend was spent clearing out my late uncles garage. Amongst all the cr*p came across this wonderful product. The helpful instructions show someone making a hole with a hammer and chisel and then taking a wad of moistened screwfix and rolling it into a plug, prior to ramming it into the back of the hole with the enclosed metal pointer. Turning the instuctions round you then come across this little gem yep - the little container contains what looks to be pure asbestos Wonder if you can still buy it ;D Steve

Arrg! remember it well. I think Rawlplug made an identical product too. Rawlplastic? It was THE masonry fixing used by some of the guys where I served my time. Wonder where they are now ............ And if you put that little compaction/pilot hole tool in your pocket while working you got some interesting injuries!

Yeah. I used tons of that stuff in our first house. I used to spit on it to get it to the right consistency...
Nurse! Bring the oxygen!
Actually not at all funny. My old man died of asbestosis.

I have mentioned this product to quite a few tradespeople and no-one else seems to remember it - I was beginning to think that I'd imagined it.
Pure asbestos dust and fibres that you mixed into a paste with water and bunged into your hole. It worked, too. Scary!

I remember it, also the chisels used to make the holes (pre lectric drills) and mainly the amount of time it took just to make one hole in any sort of hard wall. Oh happy days.
