Hi all
Early part of next yr i need to find a competitive supplier of timber of smallish quantity hear in Dorset or southern areas, I have loads of work I'm planning around the house varying from hardwood to good grade joinery timber above and beyond the standards being dealt out by the big sheds, ( total rubbish)
Any body know of a good supplier, late last yr i wanted 18m * 3*1 par oak to finish of a Victorian garden bench seat that i acquired many yrs ago, So thought i do it in oak and treat it so i wouldn't have to touch it for some yrs to come mainly so i could get on and finish other things , that was till the big shed i went to hear in Weymouth quoted me 7.50 + vat a meter + a delivery charge if it was needed, you can do the maths as well as me , my reply started with f*****ng hell your needs must be greater than mine, you keep it as i walk out i was still muttering abuse at them. so guys and girls any ideas where to start looking a good recommendation would be nice. kind regards hc.

I cant recomend any places locally, but what price did you pay in the end for your oak par? I've just had a quick work out, and it would COST me £6.88 per metre to make, thats working on ZERO proffit. That is using European Oak rather than American though.

Hi guys
thanks paul and you robo for the addresses , actual i much prefere to use recycled old timber than i do new i dont mine the extra work cutting and preparing it's a much better standard of timber when it all done , shortly in the new year i'm going to install either two seperate planers or a p/t in my workshop so the xtra work wont be a problem for me then . hc
