I've made a new door frame to match an existing out of ex 4 x 2s and the door stops will be planted on, again to match the existing. I'm thinking of a double glazed unit to go in the transom (above the door) but don't know how to specify it to my supplier.
There is 94mm to play with in total front to back to include plant on stops to produce a rebate. I could get a full-size 24mm unit in there I suppose. My questions for the forum are:
How much less than the rectangle dimensions is the DG unit, in other words: what clearance - 1, 2mm?
How do I fit it? Clips? Silicon etc?

3mm all round clearance (6mm off tight rebate). I would opt for a putty tape, which is applied to both faces of the glass, around the perimeter of each. Your supplier should offer it as taped, for a slightly extra cost.
Place DGU into opening. Place packers on bottom corners and top vertical edges (ask supplier for a few), then push the glazing beads in place. Once these are fixed you can remove the excess putty tape with a stanley knife. (Just remember to remove the backing tape off the putty before installing the dgu.

Thanks for that lynx. I'll let you know how I get on.
