i'm really impressed with your work, just find the location a bit odd. seems very strange to have that section of wall alongside the left hand bookshelf seems a complete wasted opportunity, although i am sure it had nothing to do with you as the shelf maker. like your edging too. very nice paul

that book case is 1600mm wide, originally the customer wanted it 1900mm! I am thinking that I will get asked to separate it into 2 units, as thats how it was made. I have posted it on the other forum, but alot of other work I haven't. Being only 22, its hard to judge how well work will be received.

I should think your work would be received well anywhere. It's excellent. 22 I can hardly remember being 22, come thing about it we had the 3 day week, queuing for petrol, power cuts, 15% mortgage rate. I remember it now. The good old days!!

Superb work. Were those triangular lippings difficult to do? Cheers Paul (who also can't remember when he was 22, but can remember petrol rationing )

Very nice indeed! I remember when I was 22 because I knew everything back then.

Excellent! Very nice work indeed, only minor quibble is the join in the middle of the twin unit. Can't think how I would have done it any different though. Is there any point to triangular lipping other than it looks flash?

Is there any point to triangular lipping other than it looks flash? I think the main reason is that, from the top or bottom of the shelf, it doesn't look like a piece of lipping glued on as it's virtually flush with the edge. Cheers Paul

Telos, Paul has the right answer there. I can't stand iron on edging, and I dont like a normal solid lipping as it has an ugly join if the grain doesn't run well. This way its a very strong joint, and looks like solid timber. Dom, I have a sprayer in Wycombe that I use. I cant do it myself for less money than he charges

This way its a very strong joint, and looks like solid timber.... I thought it might have been something like that. I would suspect the edges could be a bit fragile though (?), as the mitre comes right to the edge of the shelf... Just guessing at problems, I have a vicious pessimistic streak.
