Most of you will have seen this on the other site but it is nearing completion now so I thought I would post it here. I ran out of time and had to return to work this week on the late shift so it has to wait until the weekend to complete it. All that remains now is to finish off the felt shingles and flashing and fit the glass into the window openings. ;D

Well so far it has taken me one full week with both weekends and a week of afternoons (as I was on the early shift) I should see it finished on Saturday with a bit of luck. Not bad I suppose considering it was just myself. My lad gave me a hand one day to erect the large sections though. Sorry Dom I have been trying, mind you SWIMBO says I am very trying. ;D

Nice work Mailee.
Question - how did you fix the newel posts to the decking so they are rigid?

Hi Pewe. the legs are fixed with bloody big screws to stop any movement. The ones attached to the walls are held with hammer fixings as is the rear framework. The decking is solidly built on concrete piers as I checked this out beforehand. Lot of weight up there, didn't want it to end up in the tub.

Thanks Mailee.
I have a deck to which I want to add something similar to your trellis panels and support newels - but I have to find a way of securing it - my deck is open on all four sides so there are no walls to attach too.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Sounds like you are going to have to go through the decking and into the bearers or the graound for that one Pewe.

Hmmmm.....that's what I thought. Not ideal and a little tricky - but do-able.
Thanks Mailee

Well everything is now ready for the window glass which should arrive Wednesday with a bit of luck. As the structure was attached to the wall the lead flashing took a while to complete, my first attempt at this.

Sorry Gazza I cheated and used the silicone stuff for the flashing. It did recommend using this in the instructions I had and who am I to argue. As I stated it was the first time I had done this sort of thing. Thanks for the comments Dom glad you like it. Customer is well pleased with it which is what counts.

At long last it is finally finished. I got all the glass I had been waiting for installed today: Now the owner can lie in his tub and watch the stars with his G&T: Looks like I will have more work with this customer too as he stated he will have more work for me in the New year. ;D
