Well as promised here are a few pics of the computer desk: I couldn't fit the whole thing in as the bedroom is so small to get a wide enough view. I must admit to making a c*ck up as I hadn't allowed in the height for the window ledge so I had to cut around 3/4 off the plinth, luckily there was still enough of it to allow the bottom drawer to slide in and out I was happy with the joint and the finish in the end after nibbing out all the saw dust from the paint and having so much trouble with the bent trim: All that remains now is to add some trim between the wall and desktop and of course install the computers. SWMBO is very happy with it so I think I am safe with the saw now. ;D

Oh, this computer desk, let's have a look. Yeh, it's fine Lovely job Mailee, that'll teach you to rush the job before your wife comes home. Like the curved lipping, did you steam it.

Thanks guys. Yes mel I am expecing that one any day as you say more expense. Yes Dom I did use some steam but still had to laminate it out of three pieces for the tight curves. Yes I did remember the old adage of 'Measure twice cut wrong' Ooer Mel I think those writers are well out of my league. ;D

Looks very nice. You mentioned polishing the paint - what paint did you use and how did go about polishing? Dave

Hello Dave, yes I did. The paint was a water based quick drying gloss from Wickes. I applied two coats of this over the MDF primer and then allowed it two days to harden. After nibbing out the dust with 800wet n dry I then polished it with a machine polisher and a fine rubbing compound paste.

I tried the rubbing compound and then MER with a polishing buffer but it took longer to do that than make the unit .

Ah yes JFC but did you flat the surface down with 800 or finer wet n dry? The idea is to flatten the surface to remove imperfections and then use the machine polisher with the compound to remove those scratches leaving a glass like surface. I hope I am not teaching my Grandmother to suck eggs by the way, if so I appologise.
