Hi All, Finally got round to finishing the table which was too late for the comp on tother site, but here are the pics anyway. (Hope you don't mind me linking back to tother site ) Original Part 1 Entry pic to start with.... ( Full Part 1 post ) .... and for the final pics With Part 2 Submissions HereAll pretty much went to plan. The only anoyance was the top. After glue up the first time, nicely flattened it and left it alone for ages. When I came back to it it had cupped! So sawed down the middle, reglued and flattened it again. Now it has cupped again, but only by a small amount but in the opposite direction... go figure! Finish is Danish Oil. Its my first piece of furniture (hence no curves ) so quite pleased with the results, But I expect and welcome any constructive critisim. Anyway Hope you enjoy Darren

Nice work Darren, good use of skills. Good to see you've used the right joints in the right places. As for design, if it's for your own home and you like it, that's all that matters. You don't need curves for good design.

Very nice Darren. Is this really your first piece of furniture? I wouldn't complain about it being all square, it looks great.

Mailee Wrote Is this really your first piece of furniture? Yep. Done some shelves in the front room and some bits of woodwork in the bathroom, but this is the first time I have tried to make something large with 'proper' joints. My only other work in hardwood is the small box in my avator. Looking forward to the next projects, but will be abit more realistic on how long it will take. Grabbing the odd weekends here and there makes it difficult to finish owt quickly. But its a great stress relief from the day job. Cheers Darren

Very easy to go overboard with curves anyway, IMO. I like it. Dave

Darren
Very elegant.
And if there is any cupping, I can't see it in the pictures. I expect that having had the problem before, you'd be super sensitive to it and would spot a deflection of 1 micron! But you can rest assured, the table does look very good indeed.
Regards.
