Well it has happened again, my workshop was broken into about an hour ago! Luckily all they got away with was my sliding mitre saw which was close to the rear window as they had just reached in and took the first thing they could get their theiving hands on. It was the same window that they tried last weekend but this time they forced the window open. Police were great and on the scene in minutes but unfortunately never caught them. My neighbour alerted the police after seeing two youths at the rear of my shop. It didn't set the alarm off as the sensor won't reach that corner of the shop so I think a second one is in order to make sure it is covered. Pity I didn't catch them though they wouldn't have ever done it again.

Maybe its time you spent a night in the workshop waiting for them. Have a chainsaw handy and be ready to chase them down the street with it... It worked for some chavs who were throwing stones at my workshop door on Halloween... I walked out with a Japanese saw in my hand and said if I had to come out again I'd be coming back with a chainsaw... I got one sarky remark off some little gobshite so I walked out a little bit further and made sure they caught the glare of the streetlights in the Jap saw and off they ran. ;D Lucky they did too, I don't even have a chainsaw,

Well the main thing is that YOU are OK! I do think these days that not running into these people is kinda the better thing, you just never know what they could pull on you unfortunately it is just the kinda world we are living in these days Just for future ref I know it is a bit 'after the horse has bolted' but I made a 'shutter' to fit on the inside of my shed window - it has a large block of wood across the back (bit like an old medieval gate) and seems to work a treat.... Still, that said, sorry to hear your news!

Sorry to hear that mate . I've had my workshop done but luckly my timber rack covers the window and they got a load of timber falling on them ;D Now alarmed and screwed up . If i ever want to open the window i need to undo the screws but at least i still have the tools to unscrew it .......

Bastards. Awfully sorry. Trouble is these scum know even if they get caught by the police they'll get off with just a light dressing down. It really has reached the point where we have to contrive our own defences in spite of the law. Steve

Mailee, very sorry to hear that this has happened again. I know how you must feel about catching them but perhaps it was better you did not - they may have pulled a knife on you. On the other hand if you had "caught" them you could have found yourself in the dock facing assault charges! I am sure you will be looking at increased security. Have you got security lights all round the workshop and how about a CCTV system? Cheers Tony

Bad luck, pity you could not catch them. Be good to turn a piece of very dirty rusty barbed wire around their nuts! ;D The house diagonally behing us has had 3 attempted in 2 weeks.
