With some money I got for my birthday earleir in the year I decided to treat myself to one of Mr Wenzloff's lovely saws. Mike is very busy so a long wait followed but a couple of weeks ago this arrived. Dovetail saw, 9" blade, 1 3/4" deep, 16ppi rip cut with Imbuia handle. Cuts as good as it looks. John

I first contacted Mike in May and the saw arrived about 3 weeks ago so about 4 months total.
No idea what the timing is now though.

If you want the best, you have to wait. I have a fret slotting saw on the list, but am happy to wait knowing it'll be spot on when it is eventually ready. Cheers Steve

John, I came very close to reporting you and asking for you to be banned for posting "tool porn" . Then I looked at the picture again - she is lovely. When I learn to saw straight I think I will be very tempted ;D Cheers Tony

When I learn to saw straight I think I will be very tempted ;D Cheers Tony Well Tony I found that it wasn't me but my bad saw so when I finally got a MikeW DT saw then I was suddenly sawing straight. Sometimes it takes a good saw to saw well. My thoughts at times are that (as a somewhat new hobbist) I can't work better than my tools so to get good at this I need decent tools. I find that this is most true with saws. Sparky

Sometimes it takes a good saw to saw well. Well a good sharpening job anyway Trouble is Mike's saws are so damn bootiful it is easy to be afraid to use them, especially if you're a very novice saw user. I wouldn't like to have had mine a few years ago - terrified I'd have kinked it into oblivion with my ham-fistedness. Cheers, Alf

Sparky thanks a lot for that comment - you are managing to grease the slope nicely for me ;D Its almost as if you have read my comments elsewhere about my fear of sharpening saws ;D Cheers Tony

Many thanks for the kind words. This reminds me of something Chris S. published in PopWood: Dings, broken horns, etc are inevitable. Use 'em For "unusable" saws, you'll have to wait for next Christmas time. Well, they'll be usable but I doubt anyone will. Just think mirror polished blades, African Blackwood, stainless steel bolts and medallions, and a jeweler to engrave beautiful designs on the blades--and a limted run of 30... Take care, Mike

Question: is stainless steel the new brass? There does seem to be a bit of a move towards it for the "blingiest" tools. Cheers, Alf

I met a extremely dodgy person in a car park after dark a few years ago and bought a saw which I reckon is just as good.......................

Oh please... Shurrup peeps. I'm feeling sick with envy and the only cure is to go and ask forgiveness for the sin and then order one of these saws! ;D
