Jim my friend from Portreath gave me this Record 044 So now as for Record plough planes go I've got two 044, two 050, two 43, and one 405 I'm not listing the Stanleys My old boxed one got more blades but the new one is much shinier.

Portreath? Portreath?! I'm nearer Portreath than you are! You mean to tell me that shiny beauty practically drove past me?!!! Gott in himmel...
Now a trick question - have you tried using those extra cutters, particularly the beading ones, with that 044? 'Cos unless there's been jiggery-pokery I'm betting the skate is gonna be too thick for 'em. Probably for a 050 or 405, assuming they're Record at all.
Cheers, Alf
Who will give envy with one hand and dis the other gloat with the other in the name of balance. ;D

That's a live 'un, alright.
He says, with virginal (in this ownership) #55 sitting in a box it's been in and hasn't moved from for, err, too long.

Luckily when it comes to these beasties I've already accepted my collector status and metaphorically already taken the glass out of the house I'm throwing stones from. ;D Cheers, Alf

Yes, definitely a collector ;D ;D ;D Yes, definitely a collector, say he with a mug shot of a 55 ;D Double B@ll@cks to you too ;D Actually, I'm a reformed Boatanchoraholic (but still taking it one day at a time ;D). I sold my Stanley #50 a couple of weeks ago. That's left me with "just" a Stanley #45, Record #405 and Stanley #55. Never really liked the #50 (much too light) and was never going to use it again so sold it to someone who probably will use it. On the other hand, I frequently use the #45, #405 and #55 - lovely planes Cheers Paul

so come on jake, how do you know when the tools are for the right occassion, do you have conversations with them You mean you don't talk to your tools? I have to admit that my conversations with tools are normally restricted to a feew well chosen expletives, but I do talk, or rather shout, at them from time to time...... ;D Mod Warming: This thread is beginning to turn into tool porn, so please let's have no more "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" talk, thank you Scrit

Lord Nibbo,
Please tell us more about this sleek, exotic, beautifully proportioned young plough plane which you've shown lounging lasciviously on a soft, white, fluffy towel. Is it yours or is it just a picture that you've downloaded from a dodgy web site?
Regards.
