picked up the october copy of pop woodworking yesterday from smiffs. unlike many i read the letters page, and was intregued by the guy suggesting that those who want to use a respirator air system should get their breathing ability checked out to ensure that they are not exacerbating problems that they may not know they have. apparantly even if you do not suffer from asthma, or other breathing problems, a respirator can bring on difficulties if you are prone to any of these kind of problems, including certain heart related conditions, plus those who have had pnuemonia for isntance also need to consider whether their lungs are strong enough to take the pressure. interesting and thought provoking. paul

We have the larger ADE6000 fitted to our moulder. Problem is, it's bloody loud, more than the moulder it's self. Not sure if fitting silencers will reduce this but as it's only a temp measure then it'll have to do.

And in response to Jasons original question, I made up a splitter box that sits next to my extractor. I looked around for 6" wyes with 4" branches but they were special orders and they wanted stupid money for them so I bought a few of these and knocked up an MDF box with a 6" port at the back that goes to the extractor and then 2x 4" ports and a 6" port at the front. The 6" goes to the P/T and the 4" goes to the bandsaw. I leave one of the 4" flex' loose and oversize so that it will reach over to the drill press and for cleaning up the bench.
