I saw this on you tube and thought of you scrit ;D www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cm_9LmXz4MkAt one time I used to digitise drawings to create coordinate's for pacer routing machines but this one makes the pacer look a bit nunty (mind that was 20 years ago ;D) The pacer would only do 2 dimensional work (letterforms mostly), I used to work for William Smiths, one of the UK's leading sign manufacturer's, and the ones who bravely poneered cnc plotting machines for cut vinyl letter's back in the early 80's, when motorway signage letter's were still being produced with the clickers they use for leather component's.

interesting, and typically a woodwork shop, they only mechanise the working, not placing the workpiece on the jig ;D bet my grandad would have liked one of those, in the first world war, he was one of many who made propellers at hendon. bet they didn't only take 5 minutes. paul

When you think about most work is still 2-1/2D (i.e. 2D interpolation with simple 3rd axis postioning such as the height). I used to find it was almost as much work designing and creating the jigs to hold some pieces as it was to do the CADS/CAM stuff (sometimes more)
