Thanks for that. I might wander along and have a look. I've got some bits and pieces from Lidl in the past which seem very good value.

Hi Mailee, The last time they had those vacuum cleaners I seem to remember that there was a long debate on the other forum about whether the automatic switching would work with tools of 2000 watts. The ones in my local Lidl were clearly marked for a lower wattage so I didn't buy one. Is your one rated for 2000 watt tools, or is it a lower rating but works OK with 2000 watt tools anyway Cheers Paul

Paul
Mine is the same ( have use a 2000 watt router with )
The thing is, the last two times they had them in. The ad said rated to 2000 watts but on the label it says 1400 watts, well I have tried it with the router and a transformer to and it still worked ;D

yeah, there was a bit of confusion on the wattage it would take and in the add it stated 200 Watts but on the instructions it stated 1400 Watts I have used it a lot and so far no singed eye browse. ;D

I buy lots of those sander belts as they fit my machine and are as good as the ones from the barns & a tenth of the price. So cheap I just chuck them when they get clogged up when stripping off paint and the like.
I also get a lump of wood about 1" thick and slide the belt over it and then on the ends jam & tighten the belt with some dowels. These make dead flat sanding blocks that last forever. I think Niki had the same idea and published it at the other place

LIDL in Ireland were selling the wet and dry vacuums this week for 69.99 Euros, about £47 which includes the VAT. I bought one. The documentation says it will auto switch tools of 1,400W in one place and 2.2KW in another... confusing. The box says 2.2KW in big letters. The vacuum itself is 1,500W. By the way I added one of those paper bag filters for a different extractor over the pleated filter, just for added protection with no loss of suction. They also had an attachment for vacuuming ash for 30 Euros I think, about £20... I didn't buy one but basically it is just a metal container with an inlet and outlet and the fine particles settle out rather than going through to the vacuum itself. I was considering getting one for MDF. I didn't because I thought this type of system should be used for larger heavier particles, i.e planers... surely very fine ash particles will just go right through it to the main vacuum? Cheers Joe
