Hi, Could anyone please post specs., regarding the following machine:
Luna L-37 Planer/ Thicknesser.
I gather from the seller that it's 10x6.5 and single phase. He also said that it is the same machine as the L-38. On checking, this appears to be the 12 inch version.
Regards

Hi there Luna made three versions of their planer/thicknesser, a 10 x 7in (L-37), 12 x 7in (L-38) and 16 x 7in (l-39: see specs above). They were all pretty much the same apart from the width of the machine with the same table length of around 1200 mm (although that is from memory). They originally started life as the right hand side of the W-59/W-64/W69 combination woodworker family, which was designed to split in two to get it through standard doorways (an idea subsequently taken up by Felder). There was even an electrics kit available to convert the combination machine into stand-alone machines. Unfortunately, Luna ceased manufacturing woodworking machinery something like 20 years ago, although the firm does still exist as an importer and distributor of machinery and tools (follow the link for the present day firm) The Luna planer fence has a distinctive arrangement where the fence is attached to a round bar at the infeed end of the planer. The fence itself is a long iron casting Scrit

Hi Scrit, Thank you for the info, very helpful. Sorry about my delay in responding, Christmas got in the way. Your last sentance begining 'The fence itself is a long...' was not completed, did you write anymore sentances or paragraphs after this, a repost would be appreciated? One further question, any idea as to height, width, length and weight? The seller is not very forthcoming, strange, when he is trying to sell the machine. The photo's posted are very dark, so it is very difficult to see any detail. Regards.

Your last sentance begining 'The fence itself is a long...' was not completed, It should have been "iron casting", sorry. As to weight the 10 and 12in p/ts are around 250 to 300kg each, something like 1250 to 1400mm long, about 250mm wider than the table width and circa 30in high (i.e. a standard machine height) Hope that helps Scrit
