I've seen an add selling the CT22 with two air sanders. Searching the internet I have seen a statement (US site) that the sander has a blower function that allows air tools to be directly connected to the extractor. The problem is, searching UK sites this function is not be offered.
Can any CT22 users confirm that is has a blower feature or not.

It can't drive air tools, but there is an 'LE' version of the festool extractors which has the equivalent of power take-off but for air tools, so the compressed air goes to the extractor then on to the tool, and there is (I assume) a flow valve in the extractor which detects air usage, and switches the extractor on and off.
If you look under CT22 on Festool's site you will see mention of the LE version. I tried to direct link, but it didn't like it.

I have a CT33LE and it has the air function although I have never used it. I bought it from Rutlands a few years ago and I paid the price of a normal one so I think they supplied the wrong spec.
It is as Jake says just a Take off function but if you use lots of air tools I imagine it would be very useful.
Its a great DX but I find it very heavy to move around esp out to site and back and whoever thinks the wheels work well is telling porkies - it won't even climb over its own flex!
Cheers

Thanks people. I have the smaller Midi that I love but as we are purchasing new power tools soon I may put this model forward if we can use it with the air sanders. I'll dig into the festool site a bit more and see what's what.

I think it is a bit more clear in the paper catalogue, IIRC.

Jake is right. I have the standard CTL33 which has the normal inlet for the hose when in vacuum mode but also has an outlet at the bottom which when the hose is moved to there blows air out. This air supply is not intended (or powerful enough) to run any type of air tool. It is intended for blowing dust out of hollow turnings, off of shelves etc. Then there is the CTL33LE this has a connector for air tools and enables the air tool to automatically switch the extractor on/off when the tool is turned on/off (in the same way the electrical socket on the front of the CTL33 enables any electric tool to turn the extractor on/off when the tool is used). You still need a separate compressor with the CTL33LE to power any air tools. So if you intend to use air tools and a compressor with the extractor then the CTL33LE enables the air tool to start/stop the extractor automatically when the tool is used. If you do not use air tools (like me) then the CTL33 is a cheaper alternative (although you can convert the CTL33 to a CTL33LE using Festool Compressed Air Module part DLM-CT). IMHO I think the CTL33 is the mutts nuts, although it is large and fairly heavy. I keep mine in the workshop and never need to move it, the hose is long enough to reach where ever I need it.
Hope this helps - Martin.
