Just wondered what the sailing connection was with this site.
I used to sail a lot as crew/navigator with this old chap with a 27 ft "International H boat" - bit like a Folkboat but sleeker and very slightly faster. We once were last in the Mumm Champagne Cowes /St Malo race but being small were 7th in a class but 1st in another!
I'm 3/4s Ocean Yacht Master - haven't done the 500 miles off shore.
Bin "round the island" lotsa times, and around the Scottish islands, the channel Islands. Once was sorely tempted to jump ship in Alderney and make my way to the nearest dole office. Should have done it - not many joiners on Alderney!

Hi Jacob ,
Dave who has set this forum space up for me / us owns sailroom , a sort of ebay for boaty things . I know him from a boating forum i go on and he runs his own boating forum . I called him to ask how to set a forum up and by the time id walked back from the shop we had a forum .

lol, brings back memories when I had to teach sailing and "team building skills" in the Army.
I was caught out by the Colonel , when I turned up well late for duties, and for punishment was "asked" to set this scheme up for trainee officers at an OTC unit. All in all, great fun !

One of my other hobbies is sailing - currently have a Topper Topaz and a Starboard windsurfer - not a lot of wood in either of them - which I sail on Lake Togo. However I learnt to sail, and ended up teaching sailing to teenagers on the Norfolk broads on half deckers hired from Martham boat yard. Interestingly, one of the boats I used to sail, Never can tell has been restored and so should be around for a while longer. Steve |

How much would something like that cost in that condition and what timescale/costs are we talking to get it 100%. What is the specification on a boat like this
How does it work when it comes to restoring these. Do you have a place to store on dry land or do you need to house it on your own property?

Hi All,
Just got back from taking a friends Beneteau 57 from Kremik in Croatia to Palma Mallorca where it is having a mast refit and other stuff done before taking it on to Gib for the winter.
Nice trip but not a lot of wind except for 38 knots coming out of Bari; nasty big seas with breakers until we got some deep water and could turn, put up sail and run with it.
Spent 13 years as a charter/delivery skipper based in Tortola BVI before I got married. Now SWMBO lets me do a decent delivery every year or so to keep my hand in.
Only trouble is getting older makes it harder to do stuff!

How much would something like that cost in that condition ? - Depends on how lucky you are , I picked up Miss Ellie for next to nuffink  what timescale/costs are we talking to get it 100% ? - How long is a piece of string ? there are too many variables to answer accurately , so anything from days to years What is the specification on a boat like this ? - Not sure what you mean It's always best if you have a workshop or piece of land where you can store and work on your boat but there are plenty of boatyards about where they let you rent a bit of land , and sometimes they have cranes on site too |
