It's not Festool, it's Minden, the distributor in the UK (who are not a subsidiary of Festool). They are, in my experience, a very weak link in Festool's quality chain for UK customers. I would complain to Festool in Germany, if enough people that do that (I have in the past), maybe eventually they'll get the boot.

Update on the broken Rotex. It was supplied to me by Healeys in Hatfield. Today a gentleman arrived from there(Keith)and swapped my broken Rotex for a brand new one. He told me that they would sort everything out with Festool.
Bravo Healeys. That's what I call service above and beyond.
Thank You
Dom

Now you just have to go and buy those new tools you said you where going to buy ;D and claim your Audi r8 Saw one on the farm yesterday, when you look in the back window you can see the engine right there, no roller cover , nothing , I mean you could just smash that glass and nick it. Why would I claim one anyway ?

Seems that the Rotex have a problem with their gearing from what ive been told. I was going to buy one and was advised to buy the metabo instead. Just though it might be interesting for anyone thinking of buying one themselves. Cheers, Gazza.

Hi folks, whilst the Far Eastern suppliers undercut prices you and I will be paying tax to support the un-employed manufacturing people in the UK. Doesn't that also apply if we buy American tools? Whenever we buy anything from any suppliers abroad we are in effect, taking bread from the mouths of our fellow Nationals. I fully appreciate the sentiment, being in agreement for the most part. The fact remains though, we are spending our cash and we have the right to ask for discount, just as a vendor has the right to refuse. That's business. As to buying British, I have seen Lie Nielsen planes and the British equivalents, I know which I prefer. The last UK built machine I bought, that lived up to claims was my new, 1971 Coronet Major, with attachments. Even that had a few drawbacks in design, but it wasn't difficult to work around those and it's still working just fine. So these days, l have no pangs of conscience about shopping abroad. I don't blame the shop-floor. I blame young-pup, upwardly-mobile, management. The kind of idiot who thought it was laudable to slap a coat of sticky lacquer all over the cast iron surfaces of Stanley bench-planes! Regards John
