Hello everybody. I've just signed up. I'm in London. Been turning for many years, making a bit of money out of it, but only part time. Mostly I make spindles out of reclaimed timber and other stuff out of mdf. Lots of mdf, actually it turns surprisingly well, but it normally gets painted. I used to do craft fair stuff but haven't had time for that for years.

And photos! Even if it is turned mdf! Re paint; interesting article here if you scroll down. I like paint too, not only because you can get away with cheaper materials and filled holes, but also in it's own right; it brings out the architecture or 'can reveal the form' as Chris Schwarz says. Also quite a few woods aren't all that interesting in the nude.

Whilst not normally a fan of paint I love that "Yankee Blue". I think it sets the piece of beautifully and as he says you can see the form.
