Here are some photos of a few things I've finished off lately. The bowls have been sat around roughed out for years, mostly, but the elm vessel was made freshly in one go from start to finish with no signs of splitting yet. Elm vessel made with damp wood. The rings above and below the band are burnt in, the band textured with a Dremel type tool, and coloured with Chestnut spirit stain, the finish is melamine lacquer. Hollowed with a Sorby multi-tipped scraper (RS200?) I got at a Yandles show last year. A few wooden letter openers. The "blades" are fashioned roughly on the bandsaw then I used a drill chuck mounted drum sander to clean up. Treated carefully they seem to last - at least, one I made for my mother in oak a few years ago is still in use and surviving well A bowl made in hornbeam - the tree was being cut down at a local school. I asked the tree surgeons if I could take some wood and ended up with several Escort van loads for a tenner. A rather more plain Hornbeam bowl (same tree) A bowl/dish in beech, also locally grown

Very nice TT. Really like the beech bowl. Turning is something that I'd really like to get into, like a lot of other people it seems.
Keep 'em coming, love seeing other peoples work!!!!
