Interesting ideas! How are you bonding the carbon fibre to the EPP foam?

the rest of the table is bonded with cascamite. i will experiment with that. its quite a large surface area compared to the forces involved. i know that epoxy works very well with CF but i need to check that it won't welt the epp. any suggestions? im using a vacuum press with heated elements. 3/4 of a tonne per square foot. cascamite is in and out in 4-5 mins.

I'd be surprised if the epp will be attacked by the epoxy. I've used epoxy on a huge range of materials over the years and not knowingly had anything disolved by it. It is usually the solvent based adhesives that you need to test first (and for more than a few seconds too DAMHIKT!). Xylene, Toluene and Styrene based ones are the worst. - Must be the ...ene that does the damage Bob

the carbon is in the post so when it comes i can try some different glues as i have a tiny bit of waste.

so cascamite does definitely not stick to carbon fibre/epoxy sheet. i ended up glueing it with epoxy resin.

there's a guy called carbon stuff on ebay who sells what i think are offcuts from a bigger business. he sometimes has a3 sheets of 1.5mm for £30. its really good quality and looks amazing.

all the panels are being glued in a vacuum press. 17.5 grand and someone put a hole in it. unbelievable. so all gluing up is on hold. decided to start hinging what i had so far. this is how it looks now. a closeup of the carbon fibre. that's just upholstry webbing hold the desk up for now. theres less carbon fibre than in the drawings cos i was pressed for time and thats all i could get that day. hope you like
