This is a software package that optimises the use of sheet material from a stock list when given a cutting list. I'm getting some strange results and would like to compare notes with other users. I'm using the demo version 2.4 downloaded a week ago.
TIA

I don't use SmartCut but do use CutList Plus which I've used for about 3 years without problems. I use the Silver Version which allows up to 50 lines of parts and I use it mainly for optimising hardwood & softwood boards but occasional sheet material. It looks much the same as SmartCut, you can get a demo here www.bridgewooddesign.com (just to complicate matters ;D) Cheers Malcolm

Thanks Malcolm,
I have established contact with another Smartcut user and we are going to compare notes over the phone using the same data and I've also emailed tech support. It is strange as I have done one 47 item cut list job perfectly. and now this one with less pieces, is going wrong. So I'll try and get to the bottom of Smartcut. if this fails then I'll try your suggestion.
Thanks
Bob

Looks like an undocumented malfunction feature - BUG for short.
Another user gets identical, wrong results. I'm waiting to hear back from the helpdesk.
Maybe I'll dabble with Cutlist plus in the meantime.

SmartCut have got back to me and emailed a revised version of the software which now has that problem fixed. But they don't plan to upload the new code to their website for a week or so when they will be introducing some extra features (unspecified). Tonight I will upload the new version to my FTP site here: homepage.ntlworld.com/bob.minchin/W-UK%20Folder/It is the standard 30 day trial version with the same version number (2.4.2) but without the bug that the standard webdownload has.
