What brand of fittings do people use? Are Blum the bees knees as they are the name that gets bandied(?) about more often than not. Maybe you mix and match?
Any info gratefully received.

whilst blum are valuable in certain circumstances, they are not the be all and end all, it depends on what you are doing. hafele have some decent stuff too. maybe if you explained what you are aiming for then more people would comment paul

Thanks Paul,
I'm looking for kitchen hardware, hinges for overlay doors, full extension drawer runners (for wooden drawers) Soft close on the hinges and runners. Next job up will be fitted wardrobes, nothing too fancy usual 32mm euro construction.
I'm not really looking for specifics, more general observations on the "fittings market". I like to work with one system and wondered what others out there use. Is there a brand that is seen as the best quality, Are some ranges more complete that others? Obviously price/value is an issue.

I take it you are talking about kitchen grade fittings so for me clip on hinges are a must as it saves a hell of alot of time . Im not a fan of the blum soft closers as they seem to stress the hinge so i prefer the salice soft buffer , added bonus is they are cheaper . Blum are good but there are other makes that are the same quality and cheaper .

Also take a look at Hetich.
Jason, where do you get Salice stuff from?

I use both Blum and Hettich and both manufactureres seem to be decent quality. I have bought cheaper unbranded stuff in the past but the problem is consistency of quality and supplier. In the long run it is worth paying for quality.

What brand of fittings do people use? Are Blum the bees knees as they are the name that gets bandied(?) about more often than not. Firstly Blum only do hinges and drawer runners. They don't do wirework, speciality items, handles, etc. Other names to comnsider are Hettich (hinges and runners) and Salice (hinges) both of which are on a par in terms of quality. Hettich also do superb, if expensive, small butt hinges for cabinetry and kitchens together with a range of handles, sliding door fittings, etc. Grass also make rteasonable hinges and a drawer runner system which rivals Blum and Hettich Another place to talk to is Isaac lord in High Wycombe who do some very nice Swiss-made wirework (carousels, magic corners and the like) which are really well made and a definite step-up from the Far Eastern stuff. "One system"? Well we all work work to System 32 (32mm hole spacings) these days. Go and find "Blum Pearls" on the net and read it. Scrit

Thanks Nick, I had a scout around but couldn't find it. Makes "interesting" reading.
I think I'll try the blum system of hinges and runners to start with.
Thanks for all the comments
