Seriously , i used it twice and had about 8 shocks from it . The last when i went to take off the lid that felt like an electrical shock but just on my finger tips . I never got a single shock from my wicks one

what have you done to it jason, i have now had my machine for over 3 years, and never been belted i even use it to clean up too ;D seems like it has a loose connection somewhere, or is that you ;D i was amazed as to how well the white filter thingie stops the dust getting to the main filter. now i do not use the bags. paul

Is the wiring in your workshop up to scratch and were you touching any other earthed metalwork when you received the shocks?

Most of the wiring is on extention leads for the handheld power tools . It wasnt an electrical shock as i know what they feel like . I can see the static pulling the dust around when i take the lid off .

definately something new as far as i am concerned. aint never happened. indeed the biggest problem for me is actually getting all the dust out of the barrel, since it has a decent lip. and at the moment i am too tight to buy more bags ;D what confuses me is that on mine it is all plastic including the wheels, so it seems a little odd. wonder if they have changed anything in the making??? paul

Jason it does seem a bit extreme. I get a belt off the hose sometimes, especially when sanding, but not off the machine.
Is there an earth missing? Perhaps off one of the extensions?

Jason, if you're going naked we don't want any more WIP's.

Perhaps it would help if you wore wellies instead of hob nail boots - although the thought of Jason naked except for a pair of wellies isn't nice.... ;D

Why are you thinking about that

if you are getting a static belt, then something on your floor or around must be causing some kind of build up. maybe you should check it out further and see whether it happens in the house? mind you since you tidied up, perhaps you have allowed the static to escape into the workshop ;D mind you as dom says, please no wip when you are hoovering, that seems a step too far. paul

My Fein QA55E (very similar machine, from same factory as the Trend I believe) also tends to like giving me shocks, there's a little bit of static off the hose but the worst seems to come from the clips that hold the motor onto the body. It seems to vary with the weather, damp days = less shocks.
I guess this is why the expensive Festool machines have expensive anti-static hoses.

Hello my first post on this forum My trend T30 also gives off static shocks from the clips around the motor unit most of the floor is covered in rubber anti fatigue matting which does not help It is even worse when I connect my metal drum chip collector in line which is on wheels I am reluctant to move it as I know I will get a shock from the metal handles There is nothing wrong with it electrically (trust me I'm a sparks) but I am thinking of earthing the drum in some way
