hi all
does anyone know where i can get designs for a tombola drum. i have spent the day searching the net and need to make one for a fun day coming up at my little ones school.

They're also called "raffle drums": and are relatively simple in design, like those sold by Club King. The end is a simple hexagon and the sides are rectangular. If you can't find a plan by searching I'm sure that someone here will be able to draw you a simple design and post it (maybe even me) Scrit

would it be very difficult to make (it would be me making it) i have looked at the ones by club king but as this is for a school fundraiser the school wont pay for one so i thought it may be wiserif we made one, looking at this one im not so sure. would a basic square do just as well?
what would the turning mechanism be? i havent a clue have i haha.

its difficulty would depend on what equipment you have the simplest kind would have dowels on each end to spin on, and although a cube would work, it would not really move the bits of card or paper enough, so the hexagon is more valuable. the top can be a slide, or hinged. it could be made of 12mmply or mdf, and painted. even the stand does not need to be too complex, and the item no more than say 400mm long. hope that helps paul
