Hi I am after some 2 1/2 inch or 63mm butt hinges for some kitchen cabinets. I usually use brass but the customer wants a satin chrome type of finish. I have found some on the net but they are quite expensive and i need 40 pairs so i am just asking if anyone knows of anyone who supplies these at a reasonable cost and quality.

If you want quality then Hettich are about the best I've ever seen, however they'll cost £9 to £11 a pair! Almost as good, I'd say is WinzerWurth who are considerably cheaper, although the quality isn't really as nice (not bad though). I can't find the butt hinges in their catalogue, but they do sell them (and for anyone interested they now have a trade counter on Ashton Moss in South Manchester). Personally, I've founnd the hinges from DIY warehouses (and Screwfix) to be utter crap, thin, nasty and lacking in quality I feel they devalue a good kitchen or piece of furniture. It all depends on the price range you're in, I suppose Scrit

I've been using the H*P315 hinges from woodfit recently, nicely made and finished but similar price to what Scrit suggests, they do a pewter one that costs £11.75 a pair but if you buy 50+ pairs there is a further discount. * change sdepending on finish Jason

Thanks for the info guys I think I can dismiss the wickes and B a Q hinges. The Hettich hinges sound pretty good. The budget for the 2 kitchens i am working on at the moment is about 17k excluding worktops and i could go £10ish per door for hinges. Does anyone know if the hettich dynamic drawer runners for wooden drawers are any good or should i stick with blum?

I've used the Hettich runners and they're similar in quality/performance to the Blum drawers. Grass (Austrian firm) also make a similar quality drawer with a soft close so if you are offered them they are in the same league.

They fit beneath the drawer bottom completely out of sight, run extremely smoothly and often have a soft close action. They fell to the client like a quality action and are expected in quality kitchens and built-ins nowadays. For further information see Blum Tandem, Tandembox and Blumotion or Hettich QuadroScrit
