Hello My lovely missus bought me a copy of F&C today and whilst thumbing through I caught an ad for DEFT Machinery. Never heard of this brand before? When you go to their advertised website it re-routes to Lyndhurst, but the site is under construction. Further Searching found them on eBay. The specs and pics are quite impressive. At it's current eBay price it seems like it's going to go in the region of the SIP 10". Just wondered if anyone had heard or experienced this machine?

DEFT Tablesaw Better than the SIP 10"?
At the price it went for I'm sure the winning bidder will think so.

nah I think they just got lots to sell Lynx. I'm keeping my eye on it. If it ever goes for under £500, I might take a punt.

According to the Ebay listing, this saw features a left tilting blade for maximum safety.
I can't see how right or left tilt impacts on safety. My Xcaliber is a right tilter and I've not observed any safety issues with it. It is certainly much much better than my Kity saw which is a tilting table - that definitely is a safety hazard.
Any comments?

It was ended early - strange what's going on?

think about it mate, most saws use a right hand fence for cutting past the blade, so a left tilt would mean any angled work would have the thicker end on the bottom of the table, hence be somewhat safer. paul

think about it slightly differently, you want the thickest piece of the wood on the table top, to reduce the chance of things falling into the blade slot. in addition with a left tilt, you get less chance of the blade pushing the wood against the fence, and causing "kick back". at least that is what the books say. paul

Thanks Paul,
I get the point now.
I see the vendor has relisted the saw again using buy it now/best offer terms.

I don't know. It's a pretty big punt on an unknown TS or Brand. F&C are reviewing the saw next month and maybe if it gets good reviews, we'll never see it at this price again. £800 is too big a risk for me. We'll see.

Lyndhurst have been around for while now - I remember on the other Forum a few members bought some of their previous stuff?
They do a cheaper model with a buy it now price of £795 or best offer which seems identical apart from the gold top, rear extension and mitre?

ByronBlack had one of their P/T which was later names 'El Rusto'. For the amount of rust it turned up with.

I bought one of their dust extractors last year. Excellent service, with quick delivery on both the machine, and the accessories ordered separately later.
Pity you couldn't get alook at the machine.
