Some years back I was offered some used Stubai panel clamps and I bought them. Stubai don't show these on their website so I assume they are no longer made. They look a bit like these from Axminster. www.axminster.co.uk/recno/3/product-York-Professional-Panel-Press-20340.htm I went to use these for the first time today and I noticed that each of the beams seem to be slightly curved along the length. Would this be deliberate so if they are used with the convex faces towards the panel top & bottom they will exert pressure across the panel width as they straighten under pressure or maybe they have been bent in by the previous owner. Any info on these clamps would be of interest. TIA Bob

Your correct they are designed like that. They pull straight under pressure presumably exerting even pressure along the length of the panel. Mind you to my way of thinking it sounds too much like the crowned router insert plate.

I just can't imagine any normal routing operation being able to flatten a router insert? Madness. Bob

don't forget bob it is often mentioned that having slightly crowned cauls will ensure that the pressure is even and spread properly over the whole panel. it's just like putting a slight curve on a wooden beam. paul
