Circular Saws - diddy ones - about half size ? sort of like the dremel or a laminate trimmer is to a router.
can you get them ?
I've just done a (very) quick search and not found one. I was thinking a tiny CS would be quite handy for working with thin sheet stock ?
I'll have a better search later, in the mean time, if anyone knows of any I'd be interested to know.

you could always try the exact saw, that they advertise on qvc and the other cable channels, but frankly it is not as good as they suggest. mainly because it will not go into corners very well. i bought one to sort someones laminate floor, but since it did not work in the left hand corners, in the end i bought one of the best power tools i have, the fein. you can cut with it, remove grout, sand, and a whole range of other products. the latest ones are even better, since the cutting tools fit more effectively paul

Bosch do a version similar to the fein, PFE180 I think, about 70 quid.

Beware, the Fein saw is not a replacement for a circular saw, nor is it intended to be. It is a fine detail tool (no pun intended) and is not intended for large/long cuts.

i agree nick that it is not a replacement for the circular saw, however it is such a versatile tool it is worth considering for use in many areas. the original question was about use on thin stock. in which case, i think it does offer some advantages. whilst i know bosch do a similar model, i think the fein has more going for it, not least longevity. paul

That Mafell looks more like what I was thinking about. Looks like a decent bit of kit too.
Thanks

actually i do have one of those too and you are right, they are a beautiful piece of kit. my only concern is that the flexi track needs weighting down if used on boards shorter than about 3 feet. otherwise you can actually cut a 40mm work top with it, even on the track, and the cut is very clean. but the fein is still worth looking at if you do not do that much work, which is often the case we buy a bit of kit thinking we will use it day in day out, and in fact it is often left in the box because it is not as useful as we thought it might be. paul
