One of my Makita driver batteries has finally given up the ghost! Not that I am really complaining as it is over fifteen years old now and came with the driver. You must remember them the long thin ones of 9.6V. Now should I buy a new one or should I buy a new driver? If I buy a new one it won't be a Makita one and I shouldn't imagine it will last as long as the last has. Decisions, decisions?? I would say that I have had my moneysworth out of this one though and I still have another which is still going strong............at the moment.

If you're looking for a new driver, RS has a 14.4V Panasonic drill/driver at £189+VAT which includes 2 x 3Ah Li-ion batteries (http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=0384058). RS aren't generally known to be the cheapest so there may well be better prices if you shop around.
I've never used a Panasonic myself (my current Makita is still going...) but the only things I've read about them have been very positive comments, and indeed the only guy I've seen on site using their kit loves it.
Cheers

Mailee, I have one of those Makita drills and its about 20 yrs old,Ibought a new battery about 8 yrs ago for £40:00 so I bet they are much cheaper now. Also it was a gen.Makita battery. Its a drill worth keeping.
I also have a Panasonic 15.6 and they are very good indeed. Best chuck and gear selection on a cordless I have used. and considerable power and control. Also have a Makita LXT 18V Li-ion, ( The black and silver one ) but the chuck and gear/speed selection is not a patch on the panasonic.
