Lacquer touch up

A mate has just bought one of these Italian made units

He got it reduced because of some 4mm dia or smaller chips in the finish.
The blurb on the brochure says the finish is polyester lacquered. This high gloss finish is over a 1mm thick.
Any advise as to an invisible repair?
