I need to purchase a pillar drill in the mid price bracket. It needs to be bench mounted so that I can mount it on a cupboard to save that all important space. It will only be used for general woodworking. Has anyone any recommendations?
Thanks

what you going to do with it?? things you need to check are depth the quill will travel, and obviously the drill run out. go for more speeds since in most cases they only require the belt moving. are you intending to use it a lot, in which case go for the top end not the lower end, however for light use, one under 50 quid will do. paul

I have a budget up to £200. It will not be needed with a mortice attachment, just wood boring.

whilst i agree with jake about the older brands on flea bay, i have thought it might be useful to have a drill where the quill can move forward and backwards as well as up and down. basically the top driving end moves over the pillar. paul
