I've been given a sliding table saw and want to replace the blade in it as it has seen better days. I understand that some of the best blades are Freud and I have not real concerns about spending some cash to get a good blade The first projects will involve both ripping and cross cutting of veneered ply, some small amount of wood and some MDF sheet! I'm guessing that I will need a good veneer blade and a separate blade for cross cutting, but don't know if I need a third blade for ripping? I went onto the Freud site and basically got lost in all the types and spec of blade - so I asked them but they've not come back with anything So I turn you you! What set of saws (Freud to cut the choice down) do you suggest? Many thanks Miles

I'll second that as a satisfied customer. You can send an email to Dave at sales@cutting-solutions.co.uk tell him what you want to do and what size blades you need and he will sort you out. Steve

Thanks guys Miles. I can suggest the blades you may need but you need to tell me: What diameter of saw blade does the machine take bore size ...Oh and are there any drive holes in it? If you like my suggestions I will be only to happy to supply or you may prefer an alternative. We supply the Stehle range of saws which are comparable to the top end Freud ones. Dave.

Diameter : 250 Centre bore: 30 Thickness: 2.8 - 3.2

based on mooching around on the Freud site I've come up with the following however I'm more than interested in any suggestions and corrections!
LU1H for cross cutting, ripping (rated good) Lu3A for veneered MDF / Ply LU20 for pure MDF

Miles. Replying here as there is a request for info from someone else.
As I have said before you cant rip & crosscut with the same saw. To do all that you mention I suggest the following. Different application = different blade. Rip: 50102001. 250 x 30 Z=24 3.2 ATB £20.00 Cross cut: 50100018. 250 x 30 Z=40 3.2 ATB £24.00 Finish Veneered Ply/MDF/chipboard without a scoring saw: 50110139. 250 x 30 Z=80 3.2 ATB Negative with severe angles. £48.50 Finish Veneered Ply/MDF/chipboard with a scoring saw: 50100386. 250 x 30 Z=80 Triple chip £35.00 Finish Raw MDF 50100385. 250 x 30 Z=60 Triple chip £33.50 Thats a lot of blades and a lot of money.
so we could compromise (but I dont like doing that) Rip/crosscut: 50120061. 250 x 30 Z=30 3.2 ATB £22.00 Finish MDF/Ply: 50110139. 250 x 30 Z=80 3.2 ATB Negative with severe angles. £48.50. In theory you can use this for the raw MDF too. Dave
