I enquired about an 80mm block the other day and was quoted on a serrated block . This seems odd to me as i have always bought pinned blocks from the same company . The 100 mm block they sold me was pinned so why did they quote for an 80mm serrated block ? Is it the only 80mm block out there or is there some other reason i'm missing

So do i , i've just got on off ebay for £60 second hand mind and yes a limited block . I have just found out they are for larger cutters 8mm thick , to do deeper profiles . Seems odd that they do a 55mm pinned block and 100mm pinned but not an 80mm

Possible a backwards step, the serrated block, as you can hold any pattern of cutter in it - serrated, plain, with holes etc. Probably holds better and safer than the old plain faced Whitehill cutters though.

the serrated block, as you can hold any pattern of cutter in it - serrated, plain, with holes etc. Sorry.. the serrated block is only to be used with serrated knives. they do not have pins to locate knives with holes....and plain knives....they will fall out easier than the old style Whitehill knives. ONLY USE KNIVES THAT THE CUTTERHEAD IS DESIGNED FOR.....
