Download my Creepy Crows Halloween Template from Andy's EZwoodshop.
Cool weather in my part of the world has got me thinking about one of my favorite days of the year - Halloween. It's also got me thinking about how to make some simple decorations for around the house - using some of the tools I've started to collect in the shop. For example, the most recent tool I bought was a cordless jigsaw, and I've been eagerly looking for a project to try it out.
Well, I couldn't have been more happy with the project I finally decided to take on - a couple of creepy-looking crow silhouettes backlit with LED candles. And by the time I was finished, I had a whole stack of templates for crows, rats, bats, and cats.
First I took a half sheet of 1/4" MDF (4 x 4) from wich I cut the animal figures, and a small 4" support base that I glued to the back. The chalkboard paint I used gave the figures a nice, slate-colored finish that turns completely black when lit from behind. Best part is that the templates print out full size - that means you don't have to make enlarged photocopies or draw complicated grids to make the templates.
I'm giving away my Creepy Crows template - which includes step-by-step instructions on how to make them. However, if you like the basic idea, I'm also offering a whole stack of other creepy templates you can download for a small charge.
Have fun with the creepy crows template. I certainly did.
Take care,
Andy
