I dropped in over there today.  They were asking about the Absence of Alf. Sounds like a PG Wodehouse! They had got around to the topic of Mr Grimsdale. Weird - bit like dropping in on your old school years later and finding that the girls are still talking about you in the 5th form! Didn't realise I had made such an impression. Anyway chaps, I know that most of you are signed on over here, even Byron B - don't be frightened please feel free to chat. I'd be quite happy to explain to Andy King why I have read the old Jim K books, and Rob - I didn't feel it was a trap; more of an opportunity, happy to go into further details ;D No but seriously - it is a bit pathetic all that banning boll*x. I wouldn't wish to ban anybody myself. Even Dan Tovey! What did he do exactly or is it a secret? cheers Jacob |

I snuck in the back door and took a peek , It seems we had a big falling out , i didnt know that . As far as i was aware they changed the rules and said if you dont like it f**k off , so we did ;D

There is a bit of a tendency towards group-think in any forum, but one which throws out the thorns in the side for not agreeing with the group-think is a bit sad (or just a bit abused). Whether you agree or not, Jacob has a different perspective on (too!) many things. Personally, I think that his kind of challenging of assumptions and so on is a good thing, gives some perspective and balance. Above all else, the tone of response he gets has to be one of the primary diagnostic tools for determining an excess of self-importance in a woodworking-forumer. |

interesting that having complained about the fact that we wanted fair comments, they suggest we could not comply with proper rules of conduct. personally i think that here we have confirmed our ability to have decent adult conversations even when we are winding each other up, or we disagree violently with a position. i thought that we moved because one specific mod was a complete prat, who felt that he had the power of life or death even if he was shown to be totally wrong ;D if you cannot have free and fair discussion, then why bother paul |

Well I'm getting sick and tired of Statler and Waldorf in the OT section, always going on about how the country has gone to the dogs but then snarfing anyone who wants to do anything about it as a nanny state PC gone mad loony leftwing treehugger.
Gets on my wossnames.
Is it true that over here you can tell someone when they get on your wossnames?
