Are they worth the extra money?
the one in my T55 is pretty blunt, needs sharpening but i need another blade whilst it's away. I also need to replace the splinter guard on the rails. So is it worth forking out £60+ for a new festool blade or just get a few cheaper Freud blades and use these instead.
I can't swop between the two brands as both have different kerfs and this will mess the splinter guards up.

I have found the freud blades to be as good as the festool ones and a lot cheaper.

The Festool blade that comes with the saw works fantastically well and I think it would be well worth replacing it like for like. If you want a different blade for ripping or whatever then the Festool blades are well overpriced and often outperformed by the cheaper Freud blades.

When I had chipping problems cutting MFC, I found the special festool blade that they sell invaluable.

Lynx,
Call me tight, but if you gently peel off the rubber splinter guard you can re-apply it nearer the blade for a bit more life.

yep, would do just that: get the cheaper one and move the splinter guard slightly. The Festool blade are good but don't think they are much better than the freud or other to justify the price diff
