Hi all.
I have nearly finished the cladding on my new work shop, and my wife has nearly finished the insulation on the inside. With that in mind I have been thinking about moisture in the WS.
Is there anyone out there who has any knowledge of dehumidifiers. 1. What size would I need for a 3M X 10M WS? 2. How much do they cost to run? 3. What make? 4. Would it be worth it?

Just wondered why you think you need one. Is it very damp in your WS? Your average dry building just needs a bit of heat and ventilation.

I don't see the point unless you built your WS on a pond.

The workshop I had at my previous house was an old milking parlour with no insulation. Everything had to be covered to protect it from damp and often condensation dripped from the ceiling.
At our current house I have a newish workshop with an insulated roof, walls and floor and have never had any condensation problems even in humid and wet weather and no sign of rust on any of my cast iron machines.
In your case I would see whether you actually suffer any condensation problems.

Thanks for your replies. I don't know if I need one. I was just under the impression that after a day of working in the WS and the cold nights, there would be enough moisture in the air to produce rust. As you say Misterfish. Perhaps I should Waite and see. The WS will be insulated with 100mm loft insulation. (That's the roof as well as the walls). Thanks again.
